SPJN student Adrienne South added to the Mix

Sports Journalism student Adrienne South is the new voice of sports on Mix97 radio’s morning show in Belleville.

South started her gig on Feb. 5. Once a week, she’s doing a live Q&A with morning show hosts Sean Kelly and Orlena Cain.

“I’ve been harassing them since September for the opportunity to do this,” said South, a graduate of Conestoga College’s journalism program who spent eight months as a part-time news anchor at 570News in Kitchener, Ont.

“The topic of our 90-second segment is college sports at Loyalist, so it’s keeping me on my toes,” said South, who’s also the game-night host for Belleville Bulls’ home games at the Yardmen Arena.

South says her dream job in sports journalism “is definitely not play-by-play. I’d rather steal Jennifer Hedger’s job (as co-host on SportsCentre) at TSN.”
