Preparing Sports Journalists for the Future

The emphasis of our program is on sports broadcasting (television and radio), although students receive instruction in writing for the print and online media. Students develop skills in interviewing, hosting, editing, shooting and researching and get plenty of practical experience.

Our courses explore the history, politics and sociology of sport. If you enjoy watching sports and reading about sports, why not become a student of sport?

Coaching in on-air performance, and play-by-play reporting of live sports events, are integral components of this program.

• You’ll do play-by-play of Loyalist College varsity home games
• Cover a range of local sport teams, including the OHL Belleville Bulls
• You’ll become proficient using digital cameras, Final Cut Pro digital editing and Burli radio news software
• Gain on-air experience at 91.X FM, the college’s radio station and QNet News, the college’s daily TV newscasts
• We’ll assist you in setting up a one-month internship at a sport media outlet
