Fleury of Activity

Kim Barthel and Theo Fleury in the Loyalist College
Digital Media Centre

Former NHL player Theo Fleury and his co-author Kim Barthel visited with the Sports Journalism students Tuesday. They’re on a cross-Canada book tour to promote Conversations with a Rattlesnake.
Theo calls Kim “the Wayne Gretzky of therapy”. The book is, as its title suggests, a conversation between the two about healing and trauma.
Theo and Kim were interviewed by Sports Journalism students Josh Burton and Andrew McCormack. The interview will be broadcast on Friday, Dec. 12, on The Talktagon.
Theo and Kim are speaking at the Belleville Public Library Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m.

KPI report gives Loyalist's Sports Journalism program an A+

The post-grad Sports Journalism program scored extremely high on the 2014 Key Performance Indicator survey released in September.

Sports Journalism students who graduated in June 2014 gave the SPJN program a 100% rating when asked if the program provides them with skills and abilities specific to their chosen career.

The Sports Journalism program faculty got a 100% rating from the student-respondents when asked to rate their helpfulness outside the classroom.

Other areas of strength students identified in the program included career advising and assistance, and the quality of the learning experiences.

The KPI report is based on a student survey conducted in the program in the winter term. The analysis of the survey results and report stats are prepared by CCI Research Inc.
