Behind the Play is sports talk on 91X - CJLX-FM.  Every Friday afternoon students in the Sports Journalism program at Loyalist College spend a quarter of an hour discussing the latest in sports.  On the show this week they talk about the Belleville Bulls hot and cold play this season, the trouble with the Leafs and the big weekend ahead for both the NFL and the CFL.

Basketball returns to 91X

Loyalist College Sports Journalism Students are once again hosting the play by play broadcast of the Lancers basketball home games.  Tonight Logan Clow, Ryan Dickison and John Langdon will provide the commentary for both the men's and women's basketball games.  You can check out their broadcast starting with the pre-game show at 5:50 tonight on 91X - the Loyalist College FM radio station.

Taking to the airwaves and the SoundCloud for sports talk

Behind the Play on 91X is a 15 minute sports talk show featuring student journalists in the Loyalist College Sports Journalism program.
On this edition of the show the talk is about Penn State football, the Belleville Bulls upcoming weekend, Toronto and Edmonton in the NHL and a look ahead to some highlights in the NFL this weekend.

Road Trip!

Students in the Loyalist College Sports Journalism program took their annual road trip to visit media outlets in Toronto last week.  They called it the trip of a lifetime.

The SPJN program’s favourite worthy cause

Adrienne South, SPJN class of 2010, with former NHL and WHA goalie Dave Dryden, at the Memorial Cup Fan Forum in May 2011. Dryden, whose brother Ken Dryden also was an NHL goaltender, is the chair of the Sleeping Children Around the World board of directors.

            Since we launched the post-grad Sports Journalism program at Loyalist in 2008, our students have generated over $1,200 for our favourite charity, Sleeping Children Around the World.

      SCAW was founded in 1970 by the late Murray and Margaret Dryden and continues to be operated out of the Dryden family home in Toronto. It receives no government funding, relies solely on donations, and every dollar donated is spent on bed kits for children around the world.

      A travelling team of SCAW volunteers recently visited Pune, India, where 5,000 bed kits were distributed.

      Every December, an “anonymous” donation is made to SCAW based on SPJN students’ scores in the weekly current events quizzes.

Behind the Play is a weekly sports talk show on 91X hosted by students in the post-grad Sports Journalism Program at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario.  Each week a group of students gets together to give you their opinion on the top sports of the day.
